It’s in our “Goodnature” to conserve our native species

Today, I met with the team from Goodnature, a Wellington-based Company that specialises in designing and manufacturing automatic traps and lures to humanely kill pest animals. The multiple-kill traps are being used by community groups throughout New Zealand and in other countries for pest-control efforts, and trials have been undertaken extensively by local councils and the Department of Conservation (DOC). A recent trial by DOC on the 64ha Native Island, located off Stewart Island/Rakiura found that rat levels went from 85% to undetectable in one year. It is great to see the New Zealand is leading the world in this technology that benefits the conservation of our native species.
