The 50th Anniversary of Cook Islands self-governance in free association with New Zealand was a spectacular & colourful celebration. It is of special significance as New Zealand and the Cook Islands are linked with about 62,000 Cook Islanders calling New Zealand home.

Customs Minister Nicky Wagner says mid-winter marks the end of another successful yacht season, with many of the remaining international yachts departing at the end of last month.

A new $15 million ambulance hub for St John will open in central Christchurch within a year, the charity has announced.

This morning I tested the new SmartGate automated border processing technology. There will be 29 new gates over the next two years enabling Customs to process the extra passengers volumes expected, facilitating travel while keeping the border safe.
