Customs Minister Nicky Wagner has met Customs five newest recruits in Auckland.

The Labradors were selected from Australian Border Force’s dog breeding and training facility in Melbourne in August and are three weeks into an extensive three-month training programme.

Today I officially opened the new $4 million Linear Accelerator treatment machine to benefit cancer patients receiving radiation therapy at the Radiation Oncology Department of Christchurch Hospital.

Kereru and Kowhai trees in flower signal springtime in wild New Zealand. Kowhai is our national flower. One of NZ's few deciduous trees, kowhai bursts out in spring with its yellow pea flowers even before producing its new leaves. The flowers are a magnet for honey-eating birds.
